Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Buffalo, New York!
Buffalo, some 25 miles from fabulous Niagara Falls, is rich in architectural history placing great emphasis on preservation. As both a riverfront and a lakefront town, Buffalo's early history was shaped as an Erie Canal terminus. The early 19th century Canal Street at the foot of Main Street is long gone, yet revival is evident as redevelopment continues around a new arena. Circa 1900 prosperity, reflected in major works by Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, H.H. Richardson, Frederick Law Olmsted, and others, is evident in block after block of Victorian houses and lavish mansions. Wright built five homes here, and public parks as well were designed by some of America's greatest architects. Buffalo's name comes not from the shaggy beast widely used to symbolize the area, but from early French explorers calling the area beau fleuve or beautiful river. City attractions range from outstanding theater to a non-stop nightlife, a historic zoo, one of the world's top collections of modern art, charming restaurants, great shopping, plus the wonder of Niagara Falls. Accommodations range from luxury hotels to quaint bed and breakfasts.
